ARTIFICIAL INTELLEGENCE USE POLICY
At Pax Mediation, we are committed to protecting your privacy, confidentiality, and trust. This policy explains how we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) within our organisation.
Our Approach to AI
Mediation at Pax Mediation is always human-led, confidential, and conducted by FMCA accredited mediators.
We do not use AI:
-
During mediation sessions
-
To make decisions about your case
-
To replace professional judgement.
AI is used only to support our internal processes and improve how we deliver our service.
Our approach to AI is consistent with the professional standards and guidance set by the Family Mediation Council.
How We Use AI
We may use AI tools for limited business and administrative purposes, including:
-
Drafting general templates and standard documents
-
Developing training materials and internal resources
-
Supporting operational efficiency and planning
This supports efficiency while ensuring mediation itself remains entirely human.
Your Confidentiality Comes First
We take a strict approach to protecting your information:
-
We do not input client-identifiable information into AI systems
-
We do not upload mediation documents, financial information, or personal case details into AI tools
-
Any AI use is based only on generic or anonymised information
All client data continues to be handled securely in line with our Privacy Notice and UK data protection law.
What We Do Not Use AI For
In line with professional standards and safeguarding responsibilities, we do not use AI for:
-
Mediation sessions or discussions
-
MIAM assessments or suitability decisions
-
Domestic abuse or safeguarding screening
-
Reviewing financial disclosure
-
Providing legal or mediation advice
-
Determining outcomes or agreements
All of these are carried out solely by trained, accredited FMCA mediators.
Data Protection and GDPR Compliance
Our use of AI is consistent with our obligations under:
-
UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
-
Data Protection Act 2018
AI tools are not used to process personal client data.
Accuracy and Responsibility
AI can support efficiency, but it is not always accurate.
For this reason:
-
All AI-assisted content is reviewed by a mediator or team member
-
We do not rely on AI for professional judgement
-
Pax Mediation remains fully responsible for all work produced
Transparency and Trust
We believe in being open about how we work.
If you have any questions about:
-
how we use AI, or
-
how your data is handled
Please contact us and we will be happy to explain.
Ongoing Review
We regularly review our use of technology to ensure it remains:
-
Safe
-
Appropriate
-
In line with legal requirements and the standards of the Family Mediation Council.
